The findings presented here are from the external evaluation of the Veterans Reunited programme that was completed by Morris Hargreaves McIntyre in June 2006. The evaluators carried out 11 different types of research with 81 organisations, involving over 1,500 people, and including surveys, focus groups, vox-pops, depth interviews, evaluation diaries and reflective questionnaires. 761 visitors to the Their Past Your Future touring exhibition were also surveyed at 29 of the venues throughout the UK. Over 11 million people took part in Veterans Reunited. The evaluation illustrates the powerful and lasting personal and societal impact of the programme. 83% of those people who participated now know more about the Second World War. Participants have gained a sense of perspective about their lives and taken a wider view of the world. Older and younger people have changed their perceptions of each other. 65% of people who took part would still like to know more.
