The National Archives of Scotland
The National Archives of Scotland is one of the most varied archive collections in the British Isles. It is the main archive for sources of the history of Scotland as a separate kingdom, her role in the British Isles and the links between Scotland and many other countries over the centuries. By January 2006 a specialist centre for family history research, the Scottish Family History Centre, will open in purpose built facilities by
the current Scottish National Archives site in Edinburgh, combining services previously provided by the General Register for Scotland, the National Archives of Scotland and Court of the Lord Lyon.
